Step nо. 2 - TV shows!

Well, I guess you all remember the first step of surviving a breakup.

You do? Great!

Now it's time for the second step, which is watching TV shows!

Of course, movies are great, movies are romantic and they take your thoughts away for couple of hours. Unfortunately, couple of hours are not enough for our brains and broken hearts to forget the pain any longer than that.

This is when TV shows enter the story. They last for a longer period of time, they occupy our attention week after a week and they make us think of what happens next. Yes, it may sound weird or funny, but it works!

Let me give you an example. You buy a movie or go to the cinema, you spend approximately two hours watching the movie and some more time thinking about the movie (and this counts if the movie doesn't suck). Then, after the magic is gone, you are again all alone with your depression.

TV shows, on the other hand, have many, many episodes. Also, there are many, many TV shows. You can choose to watch couple of them regularly, and at the same time, and almost every day you will be waiting for new episodes to come. To someone it may seem silly to wait a whole week for a new episode of some TV show, but there are so many great shows that are worth watching. Not only they will make you forget about your ex, but also they will make you feel great and happy!

I have so many favorites since this is my second breakup and after the first one I was feeling bad almost a whole year. Depending on your personal taste for TV shows, you can find exactly the ones that will intrigue you the most. I would gladly propose Game of Thrones, Pretty Little Liars, Lost Girl and Bomb Girls.

Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season
Pretty Little Liars: The Complete First Season
Lost Girl: Season One
Bomb Girls - Series 1 (2012) [Import] [Region 2]

I like these shows a lot, they all have strong female characters and that kind of characters make us feel strong and motivated. :) Certainly, there are many more - New Normal, Go On, Modern Family, Glee, Fringe and even older ones, such as Friends - that will make you smile and make the loneliness go away.

Usually, I don't like to watch sad and depressing shows, but if you need a reason for a good crying session - go for it! Just don't get too hooked on those kind of shows. Watching sad and romantic shows probably will remind you of your sad story and the point is to feel GOOD, not bad.

You should be nice to yourself and think of things that can't be connected to your previous life. A broken heart heals slowly and even the slightest thought of your ex can damage it all over again.

Pick something fun or something that will raise your adrenaline and have fun every second of it. Choose your favorite characters, think what will happen next and even give the show to your friends. It's much cooler if you have someone to talk about it and discuss the show instead of your ex.

We are going good for now. An hour or two reading books, another hour watching a show... However, I know the days are loooong when you are sad. Don't worry, next tip coming soon.

Stay strong!
